8-Bit Bandits, founded by games industry veterans Stephen Jarrett and Robert Woodburn, will focus on creating new global mobile social experiences that recapture the classic couch co-op feel.
Both Jarrett and Woodburn have extensive experience in the gaming industry. Jarrett has worked as a game designer and creative director for 26 years, starting as a designer at Bullfrog and then leading game development with global brands such as Disney/Pixar, Warner Brothers, Namco Bandai, Nickelodeon and King and releasing hit titles such as the Harry Potter series, Splatterhouse, Neopets, and Monkey Quest. Woodburn previously oversaw King’s creative review process globally, running the Global Design Craft for over 150 game designers. Together, Jarrett and Woodburn released the highly successful endless runner Crash Bandicoot: On the Run!, reaching 25 million downloads in its first week alone.
“The partnership between 8-Bit Bandits and Wildlife Studios gives us the freedom to concentrate on creating compelling game experiences. The backing of experienced mobile game developers like Wildlife Studios gives us the creative support and autonomy we need, a publishing platform, and distribution expertise,” said Jarrett. “There is an instant alignment of values on what makes a great game and a great studio”.
Jarrett and Woodburn are passionate about creating truly social experiences for gamers in today’s global landscape. “Over the years, even multiplayer games have begun to feel lonely and isolating,” said Woodburn. “Partnering with Wildlife Studios lets us focus on creating games where people can play, connect, and create memories with friends and family.”
8-Bit Bandits will be located in Stockholm, Sweden, in the historic Munchen Brygerriet building in the hip district of Söderman.
